Los Alamos ASMI Scholarship

The Los Alamos Chapter of ASMI will award its scholarships to Northern New Mexico graduating seniors entering a college program in materials science, materials engineering or other hysical science.  There are two $1000 scholarships and up to four $500 scholarships to be awarded. One $1000 award will be given to a student from a large high school and one to a student from a small high school.

The scholarships will be awarded based on the following items, which must be submitted for the student to be considered:

  1. Submission letter including name, home mailing address, home phone number, and name of the high school
  2. A copy (unofficial is acceptable) of the student's transcript including available ACT or SAT scores (academic achievement 40%).
  3. A list of extracurricular and community activities (10%)
  4. Two letters of recommendation, with at least one from a science or math teacher (25%)
  5. A 500 word (maximum) essay describing the student's college plans and the importance/impact of materials science (or specific materials) in the student's chosen field of study (25%)
