The Helene Wurlitzer Foundation of New Mexico Scholarship

Deadline April 1, 2018

The mission of The Helene Wurlitzer Foundation of New Mexico Scholarship is to "support the artist and the creative process".  The creative fields include the following literary artists (writers, poets, playwrights); visual artists (painters, sculptors, film makers, photographers); and composers.  The Foundation wishes to further its mission by supporting a qualified high school student who wishes to pursue a degree in the creative arts.

Scholarship Monetary value: $1,000 (renews each year student enrolls in good standing)  Two (2) scholarships per year will be awarded 

 

Who can apply: Graduating seniors from schools in Taos county that will attend a post-secondary school to pursue a creative arts degree in either literary arts, visual arts, or musical composition.

How to apply:  Mail or deliver the following materials to Mr. Knight by the deadline:

  • Completed Common Scholarship Application: click (CSA) for link
  • An essay or letter of intent about your education and career
  • Letters of recommendation from teachers or independent third party - three (3) maximum 
  • Unofficial transcript
  • Will need to participate in an interview
  • Application must be postmarked by April 1, 2018

What to do if you are chosen as a recipient:

Scholarship recipient must provide Mr. Knight with proof of post-secondary school registration, letter of acceptance, and class schedule on official letterhead before a check will be issued.
