The Mesa Prieta Petroglyphs Project is accepting applications from youth 13 to 18 to be part of their exciting Summer Youth Intern Program.  The program encourages environmental and heritage stewardship and opportunities to learn important skills while working with professional archeologist recording the petroglyphs on Mesa Prieta.

MPPP has committed to recording all the important archaeological features on the mesa, including over 100,000 petroglyphs made by ancient peoples who lived in the area and invite 15 young people to come and share in the experience.

Applicants must be 13 to 18 years old, enrolled in school, drug and alcohol free and in good physical condition.  Workdays at the site near Espanola are Monday through Friday from 7:30 am to 1:00 pm.

Interns will learn digital photography, drawing, measuring, data recording, mapping, the use of compasses and Global Positioning System units and more.  A modest stipend is awarded to the interns who complete the two-week program.  Application submissions must include a letter of interest from the applicant and a letter of support from a teacher.
