Coronavirus Letter to Families, Students, and Staff
Lisa Hamilton
Sunday, March 15, 2020

Dear Students, Staff and Families,

I want to personally update you on a topic that is on everyone’s mind- the Coronavirus (COVID 19). As I read and learn more about the COVID 19 pandemic, it is clear, that social distancing or keeping apart from people, is the most responsible way to prevent further transmission. With the statewide closure of all schools, we have been given an opportunity to stay home and stay safe.

Schools will be closed from Monday, March 16, 2020 – Friday, April 3, 2020. The plan is to re-open on Monday, April 6, 2020. This situation is unfolding daily and we will make sure to keep you informed as things develop.

Food Service will continue with Grab and Go breakfast and lunch being offered Monday – Friday 10:00 am – 12:00 pm at the following locations:

  • Peñasco Cafeteria
  • Picuris Pueblo
  • Ojo Sarco Community Center

Necessary Precautions

The best course of action is to stay home and avoid crowds and large social gatherings. If you need to go out, try to keep six feet away from people. The link below explains how staying at home can save lives.

Change the way you greet people, even close friends. Keep your distance. This is a challenge for those of us who like to shake hands and hug. But it is the most caring and responsible thing to do right now.

Wash hands frequently.

Try not to touch your face, eyes, or nose.

If you are not well, stay home.

Additionally, I encourage you to check the following Health Resources for the most
