Jennifer Aguilar

Throughout high school Jennifer participated in basketball, volleyball, track, cross country, and baseball. Jennifer participated in our RISE program.  She was also a member of the Envirothon Team. In the fall, Jennifer plans to attend New Mexico Highlands University in Las Vegas, New Mexico where she will pursue a degree in Social Work. Her interests are fishing, drawing, exercising, and spending time with family. Jennifer is the daughter of Rachel Pyne and Ivan Aguilar. 

Julian Montano

Throughout his four years in high school, Julian participated in Band, becoming a very good alto saxophone player.  He also participated in our RISE program traveling with the school to Northern New Mexico College in Española to take college courses.  Julian's interests include Music, Art, History, and Graphic/Game Design.  He plans on attending college this fall.  Julian is the son of Angie and Allen Montaño. 

Angelina Archuleta

During her four years of high school, Angelina was on the basketball team and was a member of he National Honor Society, Jicarita Chapter. She participated in our RISE program and worked very hard to receive her Associate's degree in Psychology from Northern New Mexico College in May 2019 at the end of her junior year. Some of her interests are literature, music, and studying history. In the fall of 2020, Angelina will be attending New Mexico Highlands University in Las Vegas, NM where she plans to major in Psychology and minor in Political Science. Angelina is the daughter of Alice Gonzales and Antonio Archuleta. 

Cynthia Montoya

While in high school, Cynthia participated in Environthon. She was also a member of the girls basketball team her freshman year. She also spent time volunteering at Watermelon Ranch.  Cynthia was also a participant of our RISE program attending college courses at Northern New Mexico College.  Her interests include drawing, music, watching anime, reading books, playing video games and hiking.  After high school, Cynthia has enlisted in the US Air Force as a K-9 handler but would like to eventually become a drill sergeant.  She also plans to work on earning her degree in criminology to become a detective. Cynthia will serve in the military full time for 6 years and hopes to be based in either Japan or New York City.  If she decides not to make the military a career she hopes to work in New York City as a detective. Cynthia is the daughter of Veronica and Robert Montoya.

Chaske Badash-Dyer

During his four years in high school, Chaske was on both the Cross Country and Baseball teams. He was also a member of the Envirothon team for one year.  Chaske participated in our RISE program, taking college courses at Northern New Mexico College, UNM-Taos and Clovis Community College. His one major interest is fishing. Chaske has enlisted in the Air Force and has already taken his oath of enlistment.  Chaske is the son of Elektra Badash and Hal Dyer. 

Isaiah Padilla

During his four years in high school, Isaiah was a vital member of the basketball team.  He lived for basketball as it was his sole interest and what he enjoyed.  Isaiah plans to attend New Mexico Highland University this fall.  He has not decided on his major yet, but will begin taking classes to see where his interests lead him. Isaiah is the son of Frances López and Isaac Padilla. 

Jordan Egan-Harris

While attending Peñasco High School, Jordan participated in our RISE program and will be receiving her AA from Northern New Mexico College this spring.  She has enjoyed working at Starbucks and her interests include reading, writing, singing, and helping people.  She plans to attend New Mexico State University after taking a semester off to save up some money and do some volunteering at the local animal shelter and some job shadowing at a local hospital.  Jordan plans  to pursue a career in medicine. Jordan is the daughter of Deborah and Patrick Harris. 

Doreen Rodriguez

Throughout high school Doreen's interests have included snowboarding, fishing, exploring, hanging out with friends, and listening to music.  She is planning on moving to Albuquerque following graduation to begin attending CNM this fall.  Doreen's goal is to pursue a degree in financial management.  Doreen is the daughter of Jamie Garcia and David Rodriguez. 

Danny Esquibel

While in high school, Danny was on the basketball team and the baseball team and h participated in track & field.  He was also on the Envirothon team for two years and participated in the Big Brothers Big Sisters program providing time, attention, and guidance to an elementary student who will miss their weekly meetings. On his free time Danny enjoys hunting, fishing, riding motorcycles, and playing sports.  This fall, Danny plans to attend the University of New Mexico-Los Alamos branch and begin working at LANL. Danny is the son of Julie and Danny Esquibel, Sr. 

Belinda Romero-Lujan

While attending Peñasco High School, Belinda participated in volleyball and basketball.  She was also a key participant in our GEAR UP program and traveled various college campuses on the college tours.  Belinda was also a Big Sister to an elementary student through our Big Brothers Big Sisters program.  In her free time, Belinda loves to read.  She is planning to attend a college of her choice this fall to begin pursuing an undetermined degree.  Belinda is the daughter of Pauline Romero and Derrick Lujan. 

Jordan Fragua

Jordan started attending Peñasco High School just a little over a year ago, and in the short amount of time he was here he was able to participate in the RISE program, taking college courses at Northern New Mexico College.  He had planned to join baseball this spring, but since spring sports were cancelled he wasn't able to do so. Jordan has many interests outside of school which include: playing guitar, listening to vinyl records, cars, French new wave movies, art, welding, photography and skateboarding.  His immediate plans for college are still to be determined, but his long range goals are to work, to travel the world and to see what life has to offer.  Jordan is the son of Cecilia Shields and Vaughn Tootsie. 

Leandra Romero

Throughout her high school career, Leandra participated in Volleyball and Basketball. She also participated in our RISE program traveling with the school to Northern New Mexico College in Española, NM to take college courses. Leandra was also a participant in our Big Brothers Big Sisters program providing attention and mentorship to an elementary student. Leandra enjoys spending time in the beautiful mountains going horseback riding, camping, fishing, hunting, and riding her ATV and snowmobile. This fall Leandra plans to attend the University of New Mexico- Los Alamos Branch to begin pursuing a degree in Engineering or Biochemistry. Leandra is the daughter of Lorrie Fernandez and Rubel Romero.

Carly Gonzales

Throughout high school, Carly celebrated many successes on the basketball, volleyball, cross country and track & field teams. She is a member of the National Honor Society, Jicarita Chapter, and has been a "Big Sister" to a student at the elementary school through our Big Brothers Big Sisters program. Her "Little Sister" will definitely miss the time, attention and mentoring she received from Carly.  She was also one of our students who participated in the RISE program, taking college courses at NNMC, CCC, and UNM-Taos, and she will be receiving her Associates degree this spring.On her free time, Carly enjoys spending time training her dog, Astro.  This fall,Carly will begin pursuing a degree in either biology or chemistry at a college or university of her choice.  Her long-term goal is to pursue a career in the medical field. Carly is the daughter of Carmen and Corey Gonzales. 

Elias Roybal

During his high school years, Elias participated in Baseball. He also worked with the Rocky Mountain Youth Corps in the Canine Assisted Leadership Crew to assist in training service dogs for people with disabilities. This fall, Elias plans to attend Luna Community College in Las Vegas, NM. He plans to take courses to help him get a degree in Automotive and he plans to take classes to get his CDL (Commercial Drivers License). His long term goals are to open up an Auto Shop where he can pursue his passion of working on cars and he hopes to become a school bus driver for the Peñasco Schools. Elias is the son of Maxine Roybal.

Lukas LeDoux

While attending high school in Peñasco, Lukas has been volunteering at the Española Animal Shelter putting in many community service hours.  He is also an active member of the Sacred Heart Church in Española. Lukas' interests include computer animation, video games design, computer science, 
Art, and Music,.  After high school, Lukas plans to attend Northern New Mexico College in Española, and will pursue a degree in Computer Science. Lukas is the son of Pauline Martinez and Matthew LeDoux. 

Alexandria Sandoval

Throughout her four years in high school, Alex participated in and was a vital team member of Volleyball, Basketball, Cross Country, and Track & Field. She is also a member of the National Honor Society- Jicarita Chapter. Alex has been a participant of our RISE Program taking courses at Northern New Mexico College in Española, NM and due to her hard work and dedication she will be receiving her Associate’s Degree this spring. This fall, Alex plans on attending CNM in Albuquerque, NM to pursue an Associates Degree in Applied Science for Respiratory Care. She then plans on attending the University of New Mexico to continue working on a higher degree in Respiratory Care. Alexandria is the daughter of Pamela Gallegos and Ramon Sandoval.

Dominic Lopez

Throughout his four years in high school, Dominic participated in Cross Country, Track, Basketball and Baseball.  He was also on the Envirothon team and he provided time, attention and friendship to an elementary student through the Big Brothers Big Sisters program. Dominic's interests include electrical engineering, mechanical engineering and firefighting.  This fall, Dominic will begin attending college at the UNM-Los Alamos. Dominic is the son of Mary Cordova and the late José López. 

Adrianna Tafoya

Throughout high school, Adrianna celebrated many successes through her participation in the Volleyball, Basketball, Baseball, Cross Country, and Track & Field teams. She also participated in many clubs/organizations such as Envirothon, Big Brothers/Big Sisters, was an Acequia Crew Member for USDA Forest Service, Student Council, National Honor Society- Jicarita Chapter, Girls State 2019, and she participated in Vitalant Blood Drives by being a donor. Adrianna was a participant in our RISE program taking college courses at Northern New Mexico College in Española, NM. She enjoys physical activities and she loves to socialize and understand other people's backgrounds. A huge interest of hers is learning about environmental issues and ways she can help solve those issues. Due to this, she plans to pursue a degree in Environmental Science. This fall, Adrianna will be attending New Mexico State University in Las Cruces, NM to begin working on her Environmental Science degree. Adrianna is the daughter of Elena May Tafoya and granddaughter of David Tafoya, Sr.

Ashanti Lucero

During her four years at Peñasco High School, Ashanti participated in the RISE program, attending college courses at Northern New Mexico College in Española.  Her interests include Art, Drawing, Music, and Photography.  Following high school, Ashanti plans to continue attending NNMC to complete a degree in Nursing. Ashanti is the daughter of Paul Lucero and granddaughter of Jackie Lucero. 

J.J. Velarde

During his four years in high school, JJ was a key member of the Special Olympics team participating in Bowling and Track where he ran the 100 M and 200 M races. JJ was also involved in starting up a coffee cart that included baked goods he and his classmates baked. His interests include working on classic cars and trucks. After high school, JJ plans to go to the Santa Fe Community College and his long-term goal is to follow his interest to work on classic cars and trucks. JJ is the son of Cecilia and José Velarde.

Phillip Lujan

During his four years in high school, Phillip participated in Track, Cross Country and Baseball,  He was a member of the Envirothon team and he participated in our Big Brothers Big Sisters program. Some of Phillip's interests include hunting, fishing, spending time outdoors with his family, writing music, playing his guitars and working on his car.  He participated in our RISE program and will be receiving his Associate's Degree from NNMC this spring.  Phillip will be attending the UNM-Los Alamos Branch this fall and will later transfer to the main campus in Albuquerque.  He plans to major in microbiology and computer science to eventually get his MD. His long term goal is to wok as an Epidemiologist or Pathologist. Phillip is the son of Anita Baca and James Lujan. 

Stefani Vigil

After returning to Peñasco High School, Stefani worked very hard to ensure she would graduate with her classmates. In her free time, she enjoys playing sports such as basketball, volleyball, and baseball. She also enjoys camping, four-wheeling, and spending time with friends and family. Stefani has shared that she’s enjoyed being a student at Penasco High School and is honored and grateful to be able to graduate with all of her classmates and friends with whom she grew up since Headstart. She plans to attend CNM in Albuquerque, NM this fall where she will pursue a degree in Business and Cosmetology. Stefani is the daughter of Kathy Baca and Fabian Vigil.

Ariana MacAuley


Ariana is a National Merit Scholar and our Class of 2020 Valedictorian. Throughout high school, Ariana was a vital member of the Basketball team, Volleyball team, Cross Country Team, and the Track & Field team. She was also on the Envirothon team and participated in 4-H. This year she also served as the Senior class president. Ariana traveled with the school through the RISE program to take college courses at Northern New Mexico College in Española. She will be receiving her Associate’s Degree this Spring. Ariana is an avid reader and she loves animals and taking care of them. She will be attending college in the fall at Stanford University in California. She will be pursuing a degree in Veterinary Medicine and plans to become a Veterinarian. Ariana is the daughter of Anita and Marvin MacAuley.
