My mission is to provide all students with an exemplary education so they can succeed in college, career and life.

My vision is to create systems of equity and support for all students to ensure that each student has an opportunity to meet their potential as individuals and contribute to our larger society.

I am honored to be the new superintendent of the Peñasco Independent School District (Peñasco ISD), and to partner with our students, educators, families, and community to ensure we meet the district’s mission - to provide all students with an education so they can succeed in college, career, and life. I am deeply committed to this charge. This is a great time to be part of the Peñasco ISD community and I fully embrace this opportunity to lead.

As your new superintendent, I am grateful for the community-based hiring process our school board initiated last Spring. Because of this process, I was able to listen to the voices of our community - students, parents, teachers, principals, administrators, staff, board members, residents, and community and Pueblo leaders. Peñasco ISD has achieved success on many levels. I want to build upon the strong legacy that the school district and community have established for our students in Peñasco ISD.

However, there is a persistent opportunity gap that our entire community needs to address. To make sure that we build upon our strengths, recognize our challenges, and identify the most powerful strategies to address those challenges, I will continue to focus on learning about Peñasco ISD. In collaboration with students, parents, teachers, principals, administrators, staff, board members, residents, and community and Pueblo leaders we will identify what is working for our students and where there are areas for growth. I also want to hear how we can better prepare and support our teachers, administrators, and staff for the critical roles they play in each student’s life.

I also want to seek out new programs and resources to support our students, teachers, and district. I have written for several grants and have been successful in securing the following grant funds:

$9,151.00 Outside of Adequacy Grant
$33,518.00 GEAR-UP Extension
$50,000.00 Community Schools Planning Grant
$29,841.50 Computer Science Expansion Grant
$122,510.50 Total to date

I look forward to this opportunity to listen, learn, and partner with you. Together, we can increase educational opportunities for all Peñasco students to succeed in school and beyond.

Sincerely,

Lisa Hamilton

Superintendent
